Urban Junket Operations Manager


Urban Junket Inc. is a young, innovative Minneapolis-based handbag design and distribution company. Founded in 2008 by Tracy Dyer, a former Best Buy marketing executive, the company aims to fill the unmet needs of busy women who love fashion and style, but still need to carry and organize their stuff in a functional way. Urban Junket Laptop Handbags are high-style and high-function work bags for women who place importance on personal style and are focused on work, life and personal vitality. Urban Junket collections include T.O.T.E {to observe the earth}, eco-friendly laptop and tote handbags, the Power Trips collection with built-in, rechargeable Joey Battery Packs, and the Travel Collection. Urban Junket’s eco-friendly and stylish approach to handbags and tech bags has been very well received by retail stores and direct consumers all over the world. 

Job Description

Urban Junket is seeking a full time Operations Manager. The major responsibilities of this position will be to oversee the daily operations of an eco-friendly handbag & laptop bag company based in Minneapolis. Duties include customer service, trade show management, assisting with packing and shipping of customer and wholesale store orders as well as communicating and supporting a national sales staff. As part of a small company, you will also assist with the day-to-day tasks as necessary for a busy sales and marketing environment such as answering phones, and assisting with the daily, weekly and monthly operations of our office. Successful candidates must be self-starters, be willing to work independently, have excellent verbal and written communication skills, good manners and a willingness to speak up. Previous office experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office, Database Management, understanding of various social media platforms and QuickBooks will be helpful.

This position is flexible regarding hours but ideally requires 35-40 hours of in-office work 5 days per week (Monday – Friday start and end times are flexible)


  • Manage 3-4 partner sales channels
  • Assist with day-to-day office management including shipping, receiving, customer communication, answering phones as needed, vendor management and supply management
  • Manage customer service inquiries
  • Execute consumer and wholesale booking via QuickBooks
  • Manage website updates & social media
  • Work closely with the National Sales Manager to manage inventory, sales and introduce new collections
  • Manage relationship with shipping partners
  • Assist with planning and execution of dynamic consumer sales event featuring 30-40 design-focused businesses as well as local and national media.
  • Manage large databases of media contacts, wholesale customers and prospects
  • Research suppliers, industry events and track competitors on the web
  • Assist with trade show fixture development, application processing and general preparation for 6-10 regional and national tradeshows
  • Research industry & design trends to influence new collections
  • 10-15% travel for industry related events
  • 2-3 years of general office/work experience
  • Strong oral & written communication skills
  • The ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks
  • Strong problem-solving and follow-through skills
  • General knowledge of office procedures
