Q: The color of the bag I received looks slightly different than the color I see on the screen. Why is this?

Accurately representing the color of our bags on the site is our highest priority, however several variables can determine the color you're are seeing on your device. Things like the type of device you are using, settings of monitors, software, or printers differ for all of us and the actual color may vary.

Q: I saw a bag style [previously on the site or in a store] in a color that's not listed on the website now. How can I order it?

Availability of merchandise may vary on urbanjunket.com and some items featured on the site are available only in limited quantities. Display of an item on urbanjunket.com is not a guarantee that the item is currently in stock or that it will be available on your next visit to the website. Since we sell merchandise to retail stores, they may have styles and colors that we no longer have available on our site. To keep things fresh, we rotate colors seasonally, and unfortunately we can't guarentee the same colors will be available in the future.

Q: Why doesn't my discount/promo code work when I enter it?

It's easy to key in the promo codes incorrectly. (Happens all the time!) First, check that it is entered exactly as stated with no spaces before or after the code. (Note, it is not case sensetive.) Also, double check the expiration date on the promotion. If it's still doesn't work, please email us and we'll figure it out!

Q: I keep receiving a "gateway error" (or similar message) when checking out. Why is this and how can I proceed with my order?

If you receive this message, it means that one server received an invalid response from another server that it was accessing while attempting to load the web page or fill another request by the browser. It's typcially when our end financial transaction institution is having an issue getting approval from you end financial institution. Thankfully, they are often temporary and resolve themselves.

Since it's usually a network error between servers on the Internet, the problem isn't typically with your computer or Internet connection. However, it is possible that there's something wrong on your end. Here are steps to determine if thats the case and solve the issue.

  1. Try loading the URL again by clicking the refresh/reload button. While the gateway error is usually indicating a networking error outside of your control, it could be extremely temporary. Trying the page again (or a little later) will often be successful.
  2. Start a new browser session by closing all open browser windows and then opening a new one. Then try opening the webpage again. It's possible that the error you received was due to an issue on your computer that occurred sometime during this use of your browser. A simple restart of the browser program itself could solve the problem.
  3. Clear your browser's cache. Outdated or corrupted files that are being stored by your browser could be causing bad gateway issues. Removing those cached files and trying the page again will solve the problem if this is the cause.
  4. Delete your browser's cookies. For similar reasons as mentioned above with cached files, clearing stored cookies could fix an error. Note: If you'd rather not clear all of your cookies, you could first try removing only those cookies related to the site you're getting the error on. It's best to remove them all but it won't hurt to try the clearly applicable one(s) first.
  5. If none of these solutions work, come back a little bit later and most likely the error will have resolved itselt. If you are short on time, you can try to give us a ring at 612.746.1510 and we may be able to process your order over the phone. (We're available Monday - Friday, 10 - 4 pm CT (Note: we are not available during holidays.))

Q: How to I care for my Urban Junket bag?

Our t.o.t.e. {to observe the earth} collection is made from 100% coated cotton canvas on the exterior and rPET (a nylon-like material made from recycled plastic bottles) on the interior lining. Both materials are very durable and require very little maintenance. The exterior and interior can be wiped down with water should anything be spilled on them. We do advise not leaving them in direct sunlight for long periods of time, as like any other brightly colored item, it can cause slight fading.

Q: What does "rPET" stand for?

rPET stands for recycled PET, the bottles that we are all familiar with used for water and soda. The recycle symbol is #1. PET is Polyethylene terephthalate, or "polyester" or "poly."

When anyone puts a bottle in the recycle bin, it may go back through the recycle process to become a bottle, or it may become a polyester fiber of some kind - such as our fabric lining. The qualities of the fabric include: tremendously strong, lightweight, inherently water resistant, wrinkle resistant, almost completely color fast.

Q: Why is recycled polyester (rPET) considered a sustainable textile?

The majority of the world’s PET production – about 60% – is used to make fibers for textiles; about 30% is used to make bottles.  It’s estimated that it takes about 104 million barrels of oil for PET production each year – that’s 70 million barrels just to produce the polyester used in fabrics. Of the 30% of PET which is used to make bottles, only a tiny fraction is recycled into fibers. Therefore, re-using recycled bottles to make fabric diverts waste from landfills and oceans. The reason recycled polyester (rPET) is considered a green option is twofold:
  1. Energy needed to make the rPET is less than what was needed to make the virgin polyester in the first place, so we save energy.
  2. And we’re keeping bottles and other plastics out of the landfills and oceans.

So when you see something labeled as rPET, rest assured that it is a recycled material and environmentally-friendly!
