Tracy Travels: Top 5 Must-Have Travel Items
As Urban Junket’s Chief Bag Lady, Tracy Dyer spends a lot of traveling to markets, tradeshows and retailers across the country. With so much time spent in the air, she’s fine-tuned a short list of essential items she never leaves home without. Below, she shares five must-haves that make her a swift and stylish traveler.
A good carry-on is key to a more enjoyable travel experience. I always take the Kristen Wheeled Laptop Bag (by Urban Junket) in a bright color, so it stands out. Scarlet is my current favorite. Plus, I keep it stocked with it’s own toiletries so it’s ready to go when I am.
What to Wear
I pack dresses and more dresses – even better if they have pockets. Work-casual dresses (like these from Anthropologie) make packing a breeze; they take up less space in my suitcase and I don’t have to spend time matching tops and bottoms for outfits. If it’s chilly out, I just add tights.
When I travel, I rely on my phone non-stop to stay connected for work. To avoid being tethered to the wall at the airport, I always carry my Joey portable charger (included in many Urban Junket bags, like the Power Clutch.) It can top-off all my gadgets for up to a week and I can take it right through TSA without any hassle.
You never know what shampoos and soaps the hotel will have, so I bring my own. I prefer using eco-friendly and organic products. I love AHNESTI Professional Haircare. Their Hair & Scalp Refresher is my go-to for long days; it cleanses without water and adds moisture and volume. Plus, it smells amazing. For my face, I swear by Obagi Hydrate Moisturizers.
On Your Feet
I attend a lot of tradeshows and can be on my feet for up to 15 hours a day, so comfortable shoes are important. However, they need to be cute, so my real secret is OTC orthodic inserts by Superfeet. They slide right in any shoe for all day support; they’re a total lifesaver.
